In 2024, the railway sector focused on Shanxi's "cultural tourism boom." During the National Day Golden Week, themed around the "Traveling Shanxi with the Monkey King" activity, special tourist trains were operated for 1-to-3-day tours in central, southern and northern Shanxi under the "Travel Shanxi by Train" initiative. Measures such as activating peak-hour routes, adding temporary trains and reconfiguring train formations were implemented. These trains connected 21 high-speed railway stations and 28 normal-speed train stations in cities and counties featuring 27 real-life locations from the "Black Myth: Wukong". Daily passenger capacity increased by over 50,000 seats, with peak daily capacity exceeding 500,000 passengers. This initiative transformed the trains into mobile showcases, promoting and highlighting Shanxi's cultural and scenic attractions.
