CRE Train: A Golden Trade Corridor Between China and Europe
At the press conference for the Third Session of the 14th National People's Congress on March 4, spokesperson Lou Qinjian addressed questions from reporters, emphasizing the stable development of China-Europe economic and trade relations. He noted that economic cooperation has not only driven mutual economic growth but also contributed positively to global industrial and supply chain stability, as well as economic growth.
For years, China and Europe have complemented each other in many areas of cooperation, achieving mutual benefits. The CRE train, with its increasingly dense network and more efficient trade processes, has established itself as a golden corridor for economic and trade exchanges between China and Europe, by introducing an innovative international transportation solution that is not only convenient, efficient, and secure, but also stable, environmentally sustainable and cost-effective. In 2024, the CRE train saw 19,000 train departures and 2.07 million TEUs of goods shipped, marking YoY increases of 11% and 9%, respectively. With a total of over 100,000 trains dispatched since its inception, the railway has injected strong momentum into the economic and social development of the countries along its route.
As of now, the railway authorities have established 93 scheduled CRE train routes with a speed of 120 km/h within China, connecting 125 cities across the country. Internationally, the CRE trains reach 227 cities in 25 European countries and over 100 cities in 11 Asian countries, forming a comprehensive service network that essentially covers the entire Eurasian continent.
